Review: He Will Find You

He Will Find You He Will Find You by Diane Jeffrey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I guess this is the last book review I will write for this year! It's not always been easy to review each and every book that I read but I had a goal to start a blog earlier this year, and I've been quite regular in posting (yay!). PS you can follow it at http://thecompulsivebookworm.blogspot...

Onto this book now. Kaitlyn has always had a crush on Alex through high school, and when she reconnects with him, she soon finds herself pregnant after a one night stand. Beyond thrilled, Alex asks Kaitlyn to move in with him and get married. But soon things start to change. The house where they live is ominous. Alex has a "shrine" dedicated to his daughters who he claims his ex-wife won't allow him to see. Someone is leaving ominous gifts on their doorstep. And Alex himself is beginning to show a side to himself that scares Kaitlyn.

When things come to a head, Kaitlyn is forced to flee her home and seek refuge elsewhere. And when even more secrets start to unravel, Kaitlyn will have to make one of the most difficult decisions of her life.

Review: The Guilty Mother

The Guilty Mother The Guilty Mother by Diane Jeffrey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I picked up this book on recommendation from Goodreads, and boy, what a ride it turned out to be!

For the past five years, Melissa Moore has been a guest of the state.

Her crime? - She allegedly murdered her young daughter.

But now there is the possibility of an appeal, a cause that her ex-husband has passionately taken on.

Jonathan, a widower and reporter, finds himself assigned against his will to the story, a development he is not happy about. He believes Melissa to be guilty, and does not want to become involved in fighting for her innocence.

But when new evidence comes to light, Jon finds himself on a quest for the truth.

I loved how seemingly unrelated events came together at the end to stitch a tale that was mesmerizing and captivating, and for that I give this book 5 stars. I'll definitely be reading more by this author!

The Liar's Daughter by Claire Allan

Having read some of this author's books and having enjoyed them quite abit, I was excited to have received an Advance Reader Copy of this novel from NetGalley. This book follows the life of Joe McKee, a seeming paragon of society. Joe is dying of cancer and summons his daughter, Ciara, and stepdaughter, Heidi, to his bedside in his last days.

Heidi, who was left under Joe's care when her mother died, and she has a marked ambivalence towards him. Ciara too resents him for abandoning her to take care of Heidi. As these two ladies are thrown together, their hostilitiy towards each other and towards Joe come to the surface, and old memories and secrets surface, begging the question - Just what did Joe McKee do in the past?

This book was an overall okay read. It touches on some dark topics, but the author handled them delicately. However, I didn't enjoy it as much as some of the author's previous books.

Review: Apple of My Eye

Apple of My Eye Apple of My Eye by Claire Allan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hospice nurse Eliana Huges "Eli" is struggling. Heavily pregnant, she loves her job, but her personal life is somewhat of a mess. After struggling for a while to conceive, she is now struggling to bond with her baby, putting a strain on her marriage.

Things take a turn for the worse when Eli starts receiving mysterious notes insinuating that her husband, Martin, is cheating on her. As things get worse, Eli turns to the one person she knows she can trust during this difficult time - her mother.

But who can she really trust? And just who is the mysterious Louise, who seems to have her heart set on having a baby?

This book was abit slow at first, but I persevered with it. I guessed the villain early and my suspicions were soon confirmed. Nonetheless, an interesting enough read. Please check out my book blog http://thecompulsivebookworm.blogspot... for more of my reviews.

Review: Traces of Her

Traces of Her Traces of Her by Amanda Brittany
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Such an amazing read, with twists and turns that kept me guessing right up to the very end. I was reluctant to finish this book - that's just how good it was!

Rose's step-sister Willow is flighty, and when she takes off for Cornwall, Rose and her family aren't too concerned. That is until Rose receives a cryptic phonecall from her sister begging her to come to Cornwall, and a letter in the mail containing four photographs of men - one of whom Willow believes killed her birth mother.

When Rose arrives in Cornwall, Willow is nowhere to be found. Growing increasingly concerned about her sister's disappearance, Rose starts digging for herself. But someone, somewhere will go to great lengths to ensure that the past remains buried forever.

This story was told from three points of view and was a spell-binding read.

Review: Friends Like These

Friends Like These Friends Like These by Sarah Alderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A FIVE STAR READ!
A book that tackles the draker side of getting obsessed with social media, leaving the reader wondering, just who is the bad guy (or gal) in this scenario?

Becca seems to have it all - the great job, great boyfriend and all round great life. But an accident cuts it all short and she vanishes from sight... and social media. Lizzie, her workmate, is obsessed with Becca's life, stalking her continuously on social media. And when Becca disappears, Lizzie moves on with her life - until she comes across Becca's boyfriend, James, on Tinder.

Once again, Lizzie finds herself obsessed with Becca and finding out what happened to her.

And a can of worms is opened....

I don't wanr to go into too much detail and end up giving out too many spoilers, but if you enjoy a good thriller, this one is definitely recommended. Review: Close Your Eyes

Close Your Eyes Close Your Eyes by Darren O'Sullivan
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was a DNF for me. I tried, I really did, but I just felt like the book just wasn't engaging enough for me. I skimmed through after giving up, enough to get the gist of the story.
